From time to time I switch on YouTube with an intention to be divinely directed to something that I should hear at that very moment. A few days ago one of 15-minute Abraham Hicks videos found me and then the next and the next.., all of them with the same clear message of the utter importance of good-feeling thoughts and emotions. I love when that happens, when something is so clearly and obviously meant for you that it is impossible to miss.
When you really think about it, it seems obvious that the higher in frequency your thoughts are, the better you are going to feel and vice versa. Even though we know it, far too often we find ourselves in a place where we do not want to be. We let ourselves be dragged down by our environment, lack of time, our body and all the limiting beliefs and habits that no longer serve us.
If you are familiar with Abraham Hicks’ teachings, you will have heard of the emotional guidance scale ranging from fear/grief/depression/despair/powerlessness at the very bottom to joy/appreciation/empowered/freedom/love at the top with many more emotions in between. What is important to understand that in our human lives it is impossible to be in a state of joy or love all the time. We move between emotions all the time but the key is not to stay in the lower frequency ones for too long.
Developing the skill of understanding where you are, how you feel, listening to your thoughts and changing them when they do not serve you is one of the most important things that you can work on. The more you do it, the better you are going to be at it and eventually there will be a point where you will not have to consciously think about doing it, you will just recognize when your feelings or thoughts are out of alignment and you will change them without feeling guilt or judgment.
If you haven’t yet, please have a look at Abraham Hicks emotional guidance scale online. Sometimes we might think that there is not much difference between certain emotions, however the scale clearly shows which emotions are lower or higher in vibration. Why would it be important to understand? I had a situation where people close to me didn’t think that rage or even anger were a step up from depression. Depending on your own experiences and how they have shaped you, somebody yelling, screaming and throwing things might seem much worse than being passive, not responding much and closing themselves to the outside world. When I first looked at the emotional guidance scale and had a proper think about it, it became obvious to me that being angry, even raging is much better than feeling nothing. You can see how for example anger feels better than rage, being overwhelmed feels better than being angry and frustration/irritation/impatience feels better than being overwhelmed. In the same way it is easy to understand that blame feels better than guilt and hope is a big step up from doubt.
Knowing which emotions are higher than others really helps on our inward journey. Far too often we tend to be very harsh on ourselves when we are in the process of change, we constantly judge what we do or don’t do and feel like we haven’t made the progress that we should have. If it feels like something you do, please have a look at that scale as it might show you that you are actually doing much better than you think. The scale helps us to understand where we are when our emotions have dipped and what would be a step up from our current situation. We do not have to go straight from fear to love as that would be really difficult to do, just slowly make our way up.
Sometimes it might feel like you are making two steps forward and one back or there might even be days when it will be one step forward and two steps back, but in these moments it is important to understand that it is ok to be where you are right now, to never give up on yourself and treat yourself with as much patience and appreciation as possible.
What I loved hearing in one of the Abraham Hicks videos is that Source is always there with you in the emotion that feels better, guiding and loving you every step of the way. You are never on your own. Source is pure love, It loves you always unconditionally, but you do not have to feel bliss all the time to feel it and to know that it is true. So wherever you are on your journey, however low your emotions are, please know that the guidance is always there. You do not need to make massive steps. Taking small strides, believing in yourself and opening yourself to the possibility of being guided is all that is required.
You are stronger and more powerful than you think. We all have times when we feel discouraged, when we feel not good enough, when life seems just too much, but knowing that it is ok to feel that way and that there is help and guidance no matter where we are can help us feel hope and can make a decision to change our emotional state that much easier 💜
